El caso de la mujer del estanque / The Case of the Woman in the Pond
With an excellent historical setting, engaging and charismatic characters, a mystery to solve and an unpredictable love story, Helena Tur’s new novel mixes murder and romance in an addictive historical cosy crime set in the late 19th century Biscay.
Ochandiano, Vizcaya, 1897. Antonia, the mayor’s wife, celebrates her stepson Eloy’s birthday with a party to which she invites the whole village. The next day she is found murdered on the bank of the pond. The neighbours enter into a spiral of distrust when the resentment that the victim had provoked in many of them due to her airs of grandeur and her intention to modernise the customs of the region comes to light.
Meanwhile, young Marina falls in love with an outsider, Javier, a handsome and wealthy heir who has come to Ochandiano to claim the money owed to him by her father. Their relationship will be affected by the criminal investigation which, little by little, will unveil the secrets of the -until then- peaceful rural community.
